How to Make a Crochet Starting Chain - Slip Knot
Step 1: Wrap the around
your finger to make a circle. Note that you should leave a length of about 6
inches or so on the other side of the circle (this will be left hanging as you
crochet and will be woven in when you are finished crocheting the piece.)
Weaving in this length is a good way to secure the end so that it will not
unravel over time.
Step 2:
Fold one side of the yarn down so that it is lined up in the center of
the circle. This is in preparation to pull this yarn
through the center of the circle.
Step 3:
Using your fingers or a crochet hook, pull the yarn through the center of the circle. The first loop is made.
If you haven't already, insert crochet hook into the loop just made.
